I received the product and upon opening it up I found there were no maps loaded on unit. I had to send it back to mfg for warranty. They actually replaced it with a different unit, same model. I was not happy with the fact that it did not work out of the box as it suppose to.

The unit is very good. I do have a major gripe. I decided on this unit because of the 1 year of quarterly map updates for $39.95. Tried to buy this service – found out it is not available for the 140S. Yet? Do not know what other models do not have this service. Yet?

This Tomtom had problems right out of the box. It took a long time to capture a signal and lost it frequently when it did find a signal.

I than downloaded an update form Tomtom and it only gives me a flashing red X. I called Tech support and they close at 7pm! I am currently waiting for someone to answer this morning and it has been 31 minutes!

Back it goes for a full refund!!!!!!

You would think that TomTom software engineers could could write the code to make the 140S say the word BRIDGE! I just returned from a trip across the Delaware from NJ to PA. Walt Whitman Bridge becomes “West Whitman Branch” and the Benjamin Franklin Bridge is “B Franklin Branch”. How many bridges in America? You would think TomTom could get this right. The unit is also very slow to pick up the satellite signal. A Garmin Nuvi may have been a better choice.

After five calls to customer service which were of no help they decide to authorize an RMA due to their faulty software updates that left the device w/out a workable map. They tried to get me to pay for shipping by lying and saying that shipping would be taken care of at FEDEX by showing them the RMA number. After the 6th call to CS, then and only then, did they email a shipping label. When I received the device back from TonTom it doesn’t receive a signal and they didn’t return one with a mounting bracket (the one I purchased originally had the bracket attached and I didn’t think to remove it). I could go on about how bad this company and their customer service are, but I’ve wasted enough time on this company already. Stay far away from this company. From now on it wil be any GPS maker, BUT TomTom receiving my business.
